I constantly blow a fuse every time I go to plug in my pentair intellichlor IC 40 salt cell. Do I need a new cell? And if yes, why would it only last 2 years?

Ken disconnect your cell from the transformer, replace your fuse and try to plug in the transformer without the cell plugged into it. Try to plug the transformer into a plug outlet you don’t normally use this way. If the fuse still blows you may have a bad transformer or some bad wires inside. Unplug the transformer and open up the transformer box to check the wiring for arc’d wires, burnt insulation or wires. Also check for any excessive moisture within the transformer box.
If the transformer doesn’t blow the fuse without the cell plugged into it have a look at the blades on the cell for excessive deposit. If you see an abundance of deposit on the cell blades try to clean the deposit off with an authorized cell cleaning agent.
Salt cells seem to last 2-3 yrs on average give or take depending on usage and chemistry maitenance habits.
