Stereo doesn’t work

We have. 680 series Sundance Spa. The button to turn the stereo on is lit red (so there seems to be power going to it) but when we push the button, nothing happens. It does not actually turn on. The remote control does not turn it on either. The spa is less than two years old and the stereo was working a week ago. Any thoughts on steps to take would be great…there was nothing in the manual.

  1. Heather, In order for the remote to operate the stereo, you
need to pair them using the following method:
    1. Make sure the stereo unit is in “Standby” mode.
LED power light will be red,
    2. Press any button on the remote to turn it ON. The remote
LCD display will read “No Link.”
    3. Press and hold the “Mode” button on the remote
At the same time, press and hold the power button on the
    stereo for 2 seconds
    4. The remote LCD display will read “Welcome,” “Load” and
“Radio” if the pairing sequence was successful.
If this doesn’t work try replacing your remote battery.
Still no luck try connecting the stereo via your bluetooth device.
    1. Turn power ON to the stereo unit.
    2. From your Bluetooth device, make sure the Bluetooth setting is ON.
    3. Follow the pairing instructions for your Bluetooth device and connect
to the “BLUEWAVE” device that appears on your screen.
    4. If asked for a password, enter the code “0000.”
    5. The remote LCD screen will display, “BT AUDIO” if the process was
    successful.
If the stereo works with Bluetooth but not your remote you may have a bad remote.
If the stereo doesn’t work with your remote or your bluetooth device you may have a bad deck.
If all else fails contact your local Sundance Spas Support Desk to book a diagnostic and repair
of your 680 Series Sundance Spa Stereo.

  2. I have a Sundance cameo 880 with the Bluewave spa stereo system…. it worked before I moved it from a friends house to mine… now there is no light on the power button… stereo won’t pair with remote… it’s just dead… spa works perfectly but this… Help….. I’ve pulled the panel off but not sure where the fuses are….

    1. Dave if you press the stereo button it should turn red (standby mode). Then you should be able to follow the pairing procedure for your remote or bluetooth device. If the stereo button does not turn red and your spa is otherwise functioning normally you could check out the fuses behind the deck:

      1. Turn power to the spa OFF.
      2. Locate the red fuse wire on the stereo wiring harness.
      3. Open the black casing that encloses the fuse and remove the 1A fuse.
      4. Set your meter to test for continuity.
      5. Test across the fuse.
      A. A reading of “1” or infinite indicates a bad fuse. Replace the fuse and retest.
      B. A reading of “0” or continuity indicates a good fuse. Proceed to testing the 10A fuse.

      6. Locate the yellow fuse wire on the stereo wiring harness.
      7. Open the black casing that encloses the fuse and remove the 15A fuse.
      8. Set your meter to test for continuity.
      9. Test across the fuse.
      A. A reading of “1” or infinite indicates a bad fuse. Replace the fuse and retest.
      B. A reading of “0” or continuity indicates a good fuse. Proceed to testing the power supply.

      1. Turn power to the spa OFF.
      2. Disconnect the spade connectors between the power supply and the spa wiring harness.
      3. Turn power to the spa back ON.
      4. Set your meter to 20 VDC.
      5. Test across the spade connectors for the power supply for 12-15 VDC.
      6. If voltage is good then the stereo unit is bad. If voltage is bad then the power supply is bad.

  3. Just got to this…. there is just 1 small black case hooked to the red wire with a mini 15 amp fuse …. no 10a fuse and no yellow wire with a fuse….

  4. I have a jacuzzi j-365 with bluewave Bluetooth stereo system with 4 speakers and two of the speakers stopped working ….. i bought 4 replacement speakers and began with replacing the two bad speakers and checked the balance and fade settings but the two speakers still did not work and all the connections are fine. Is there a separate fuse to check for these two speakers ? The two speakers that aren’t working are on the same side of the hot tub.

    1. Hi Scott. Try the new speakers where you have the two speaker that currently work on the spa just two rule out the new speakers are not also bad. If they check out ok it is either a break in the wiring to those speakers or a bad deck. You need to pull off your skirt panels to expose the wire harnesses to those speakers.

  5. I have a sundance 880. All the speakers on the outside of the tub stopped working. There is a big black unit inside that the speakers work fine. Do you have any ideas there must be something in common with the outside speakers.

    1. Hi Ron. The black box is the sub woofer. If your balance and fade on the deck are set to the top speakers and you still have no sound from them check your wiring harness to the speakers for cuts and or breaks. Also check the connections to the back of the speakers.

  6. I have an older sundance spa and a cd got stuck in the stereo and won’t come out. Can i replace the stereo or send it somewhere to be fixed?

    1. Hi Dave. There is a reset hole in the front of the deck. If you insert the end of a paperclip it resets the deck and sometimes pops out the stuck CD. Otherwise you would need to change out the deck.

  7. Hi. Just started up my Sundance 780 hot tub and my blue wave stereo light will not come on. No red standby light. Any way to reset or what to check.

    1. Check the power button and the fuse behind the deck Derek. Also check you have 230v going to the power supply and 12VDC going to the deck from the power supply.

  8. I have a j385 with a BLUEWAVE stereo system. Had two blown speakers so haven’t used it it a while. Just bought replacements ( have not installed them yet) but now none of the speakers are working. Sound comes out of subwoofer but not speakers. I’ve disconnected and reconnected the wiring harness but still no luck. Any suggestions?

  9. Stero power button is on & connects to phone via Bluetooth but very little sound comes out. The volumn isn’t working on control panel when trying to adjust sound. The fuse isn’t blown. Can you help troubleshoot ?

    1. Hi Chris, check the balance controls first. IF that checks out ok you will want to check the wiring harnesses to the speakers. If they check out ok you could have some bad speakers and or a bad deck.
